Privacy Policy
Effective 14 July 2026 ยท applies to the BoatSprint game (browser, Google Play and App Store editions) and this website.
The short version: your progress lives on your own device. Nothing leaves it unless you use the online leaderboard or create a backup account โ and even then we only store what's listed below. No ads, no third-party trackers, no analytics, no selling your wave data to Big Ocean.
Playing the game
By default BoatSprint is fully local. Your captain name, progress, stars, coins, boats and settings are saved on your device โ in the app's private storage on phones and desktop, or in your browser's local storage for the browser edition. We can't see any of it. Uninstalling the app (or clearing the browser's site data) deletes it.
The global leaderboard
Speed mode has an optional global monthly leaderboard. When you set a new monthly best while online, the game submits:
- a random player id generated on your device (32 hex characters โ it identifies your install, not you),
- the captain name you chose,
- your time, the course, the boat you used and the month.
Your captain name, time and boat appear publicly on the leaderboard, so pick a name you're happy to fly from the mast. Only your best time per course per month is kept.
Optional backup account
"Back up online" creates a device-bound account so your progress can be restored. No e-mail address, no password, no personal details โ the game generates a device credential and we store:
- your player id, captain name and device credential,
- your save file (progress, stars, coins, boats โ the same data that lives on your device),
- short-lived sign-in tokens.
If you never tap "Back up online", none of this exists.
This website
The site is a static showcase. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics or third-party scripts. The browser edition of the game caches its files locally (that's what makes it installable and playable offline) and talks only to our own servers.
Where your data lives
Leaderboard and account data are stored on our servers hosted by Simply.com in the EU, and are never shared with or sold to anyone. Standard technical server logs (IP addresses) are kept briefly by the hosting provider for security and are not used to profile players.
Your rights & deletion
Under the GDPR you can ask for a copy of the data connected to your player id, have your captain name corrected, or have your leaderboard entries and account deleted entirely. E-mail kalmer@outlook.com from any address and include your player id or captain name โ we'll sort it out. Since accounts hold no e-mail address or real name, data we hold usually can't be tied to a person without the player id from your device.
Children
BoatSprint is suitable for all ages. It shows no ads, has no chat, and collects no personal information beyond the player-chosen captain name described above. Skippers of any age: don't use your real name as your captain name.
Changes
If this policy changes (for example when the app-store editions launch), the new version is published here with an updated date. Significant changes will be noted in the game's update notes.
